Company History
Otto Baum
In Depression-era 1937, a 33-year-old German immigrant set out to pursue his “American Dream.” A skilled brick mason who had come to the United States at age 21, Otto Baum worked the rural areas surrounding Peoria, Illinois and quickly built a reputation for quality masonry services among his customers. His work ethic and proven skills as a mason allowed Mr. Baum’s business to grow.
In the years that followed, four sons joined their father in the business and through their leadership, this relatively small masonry subcontractor grew to become one of central Illinois’ largest full-service contractors specializing in all types of concrete, earthwork, and masonry construction and restoration services. Now spanning three generations, Otto Baum Company, Inc. still operates on the principals and values established by its founder who left a legacy of faith, family, and skilled employees.
